VyVyan – Punk Till I Die

By Kev le Chat (Text) and Miki de Goodaboom (Illustration)

Vyvyan was getting bored in Bangor. It had been something of a disappointment to him. When he’d been shipped off there unceremoniously, in a dusty old cardboard box, he thought it might be exciting.

BANGOR! Like a bomb!

But no….bored, bored, bored, BORED!

He couldn’t remember how long he’d been there now, gathering dust in that market hall. He was glad he had his bottle of beer though. Back in 1977, they all loved him, loved his punk style, but he was a bit old hat now, wasn’t he?

Somebody was looking at him now. A bit of a hairy scary bloke to be honest…he looked like a musician though.

“Hang on, he’s bought me!”  Exclaimed Vyvyan,

“Bloody hell! Right that’s me sorted, I’m off to Spain to rock n roll! – bugger Bangor!”

Never Trust A Skinny Cook

By Miki de Goodaboom (Text & Illustration)

in September 2017 I was on a painting trip in Wales, and eagerly looking to adopt some new Teddy Bears. This is when I suddenly met one of these Ted Characters. They are mostly standing bears, usually wearing a large slate around their neck, or some kind of sign, on which is always written something cleverly funny.

I fell in love with that bear, unfortunately he was not free for adoption. But since then, I met some others, and adopted a lot. To find one of them is always a deep joy for me and my beloved teddy Truffle McFurry.

I have decided to paint them all, at least to try. I called the series “Inspirational Teddies”. Simply because they are so inspirational, in many senses, artistically and psychologically to say the least!

I started the series with the last one that entered our home, a lovely cook girl which Kev Le Chat brought me back from Stroud in the UK, for Christmas. When he is over there, he is always on a Teddy bear mission, and he is very good at finding the rare pearls!

PS: if you have one of them, I would be over the moon to receive a photo and to paint him/her.

Charlie Bear Sylvia

By Miki de Goodaboom (Text & Illustration)

My Teddy Truffle McFurry and me have been kindly invited by the international magazine “Teddy Bear Times” to write an article about our visit to the Charlie Bear Museum in Launceston (Cornwall, UK) in May 2018.

It was my birthday as we -Truffle, my partner the English Rocker Kev Moore and me- visited the museum. It couldn’t have been a better thing to do that day!

I had also the chance to be allowed to choose one of the Charlie Bears displayed in the shop there… a birthday gift from Kevin! As it is written on the wall of the museum

“THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE BEAR”

More accurately in this case: “… FOR ONE MOORE BEAR!”  🙂

I chose Sylvia… not a typical Charlie bear, I would say, without the long hair everywhere, but such a beautiful pink bear!

I won’t tell more about that visit for now, as it will be all said in the article, coming up at some point next year. I first need to paint all those amazing bears!

Winnie The Pooh In Fowey

By Kev Le Chat

While we -Mki de Goodaboom, Truffle McFurry and me- were in Fowey, Cornwall recently, we came across this beautiful antique Winnie the Pooh bear.

I’m not a fan of the stylised Disney bear version which always looks superficial to me, but there was something about this one, sat forlornly in a window that exuded a certain tender gravitas and sweet melancholy, something that spoke of A.A.Milne.

It’s the best Winnie the Pooh I’ve seen!

Gollies In Truro In Cornwall

By Truffle McFurry

Hallo everybody, Truffle McFurry here!

I am sorry that I was not writing very much in “Go Teddy”… I was so busy, travelling and writing a book! I will tell you about the book soon.

With my parents, the French artist Miki de Goodaboom and the English rocker Kev Moore, we went on a painting trip to Devon and Cornwall in England. it was fabulous! Mom and Dad came back very big, as they were having cream teas all the time, with tons of cream!

We saw many Teddies, because they love Teddies so much in England. But today it is not about Teddies, it is about The Gollies. I know they are a species in danger, but I have decided to take them under my protection the first time I saw one. It was Auntie’s Ann Golly, from when she was a little child. We are the best mates now. it was Auntie Ann who told me about them in danger.

In the lovely town of Truro in Cornwall, we met 3 Gollies. I asked my mom to paint them to show everybody how beautiful they are!

If you love the Gollies too, join us please!

Love you all

Teddy Linton And Mary Lou

A

By Truffle McFurry

The other day I had such  a wonderful surprise. a very nice lady wrote me an email, yes to me in person, Truffle McFurry. She had found the image of Teddy Lynton here, in Go Teddy.

We had met Teddy Lynton in England as we were visiting all the bears from my mate Gyles Brandreth, the very famous and lovely man from the TV in England. My Mom Miki wrote about it here. Read it, it is very interesting. Lynton was the Teddy of Tony Blair, a very important man says my Dad.

The nice lady was saying that she was a friend from Mary Lou, who had made Lynton. That Mary Lou had a shop once in London, and it was called “Lou Lou Bears”. What a cute name for a teddy bear shop, isn’t it?!!! Anyway Loulou was very happy to see her bear Lynton painted, and to see it on all the nice things  my mom sells. She wants one of them too.

She made my day! My Mom and auntie Ann said

“The circle is closed!”

I don’t know exactly what it means, but they love it when a circle closes, so I guess it is a fabulous thing!

Love you all

Children From Beaumaris

By Truffle McFurry

Hallo everybody!

I told you in my last post that we were in Wales on a painting trip. We met many bears there, and we adopted loads of them. They are all my brothers and sisters now!

In Wales, in the North, there is an island , it is called “Anglesey'”. There, there is a town with the beautiful name of Beaumaris. They have bears too, but also sheep and they are all playing together. In the past I was very jealous of sheep because my Mom loves to paint them and I was always afraid that she abandoned me for a sheep.

But I am a big boy now, and I understand many things about love. So, I am ok with sheep too. And this is true that they are so cute. The cutest one being my little sister Mary,

Here are some of the children from Beaumaris, painted by my Mom of course!

Bye for now, love you all xxx

Truffle McFurry In Wales

Hello everybody!

Sorry, I haven’t been here for a long time. I don’t forget you, I think of you all the time. But we are very busy here, travelling and writing and editing our books. This takes all my time!

I have been in England again, it was the first time since our Tour de Yorkshire last year. But we were mainly in Wales. It was wonderful there, and we rescued millions of Teddy bears there. They are living with us now in Spain. I hope my Mom Miki will one day find the time to paint them all, but she too is so busy with the books. She has to do all the paintings for them, they are many!

In Wales, I had to travel a bit incognito because I have a bit of a fame now. So my dad gave me some of his cool sun glasses, always matching my jumpers. I looked amazing, they said! On the painting, it was in a place on the island of Anglesey. I loved it there!

Take care

I love you xxx

The Stonegates Teddy Bear Shop In York

By Truffle McFurry

Hallo everybody!

We are very busy here writing many books!

One of the books will be about York, that big city we visited last year. There was a wonderful teddy bear shop there. I was the first time I was in a shop where they only sell Teddy Bears, I was very impressed.

Here is what I write in the book:

“…We arrived then at the Teddy bear shop. In front of it there was a very big bear, much bigger than me, much bigger than my Mom and Auntie Ann, much bigger than everyone around. And he was kind of scary. From inside my bag I gave with my paw three little shots in my Mom’s back. Her and me, we have a secrete code. When I want something I should give her some little shots. Three means that I am scared and that I want to go away. One means that I want to rescue a bear. And so on…

… there was a little cute girl with the scary giant bear. She was having a photo with him. I thought, if a little girl can do that, I can do it too. I am a tough boy, me! So, I asked my Mom to take a photo of me sitting on the big bear! She was so proud of me, again I was stronger than my fears. She always ask me to. She says, nobody and nothing will be able to hurt me then in my life…”

If you want to know more, you will have to buy the book when it is out!

Take care, love you all, xxx
